Project Summary
Motivated by the concept of visitor-centred museums, the primary goal of this project is to develop a personalised service and information modelling framework to enhance the experiences of both visitors and curators. To achieve the goal, the initial phase of the study focused extensively on understanding the needs and interests of museum visitors.
I actively participated in the project during its early phases from 2018 to 2020. Specifically, I played a central role in reviewing relevant literature, brainstorming and defining the methodological approach. Leveraging my Python coding skills, I built a web crawler that our team deployed to gather data, including social network data and hashtags, about Korean museum followers on Instagram. This dataset formed the basis for our subsequent network and text analyses, which revealed multiple communities of interest among museum followers.
In addition to my contributions to research design and data collection, I took initiative in various research tasks. For instance, I used UI prototyping tools like Adobe XD and Sketch to replicate the interface of an existing museum guide app. The replica was intentionally made with limited functionality and controlled for eye-tracking-based usability testing. Furthermore, for another track of the project focusing on on-site visitor experience, I actively engaged in meetings with our project partner—the Lee Ungno Museum in Daejeon.
My involvement in the later stages of the project decreased due to family circumstances. Nonetheless, I continued to contribute by writing sections of articles for conferences and journals based on our study findings. A list of the published work is provided below.
