Exploring Human-Centred Communication, Society & Technology

About Me

My name is Po Yan [pəʊ jæn]—Po or P.Y. for short.

I think, I research, I write.

As you explore this website, you will discover my unique educational background and career journey.

I have worked as a researcher in academic institutes for over five years, specialising in human communciation, behavioural, and social studies. My goal is to make a real-world impact by utilising my knowledge in human communication, behaviours, media technology, and design.

My experiences have helped me to cultivate transferable skills and techniques in scientific thinking, research, and communication, enabling me to thrive in interdisciplinary environments.

While my projects may seem diverse at first glance, they all share a common objective: to address real-world challenges by understanding human communication and behaviours.

Before developing my career as a researcher, I was professionally trained to be a journalist. My work was published in various media. As a freelancer, I still write and translate content for Chinese readers related to East Asian cultures and societies, with a focus on South Korea and Hong Kong.

Besides, I am passionate about language, cultural exchange, and knowledge dissemination. From time to time, I volunteer to teach languages I am proficient in—English, Korean, Cantonese, and Chinese—to share the joy of learning foreign languages. I have been learning German lately.
